The Best Summer Camps in San francisco, Marin, East Bay, Silicon Valley & The Peninsula
At Galileo, we believe summertime offers an incredible window for learning experiences that just aren’t available during the school year. There’s more flexibility, no need to focus on standardized tests or memorization, and abundant opportunity to engage in immersive and fun projects. Galileo strives to make summer live up to its full potential.
Kids are naturally curious; they’re constantly inquiring about the world around them, from the color of the sky, to how the Bay Bridge was built to whether the sourdough bread at Tartine is actually alive. As a parent, you want to provide them with lots of opportunities to build on and enhance their growth and learning—but you can only visit the California Academy of Sciences and the Exploratorium so many times. That’s where Galileo can help, as our summer camps are designed for curious kids who love to explore, learn and create.

What is Camp Galileo?
Camp Galileo is regarded as one of the best summer day camps in SF, with each aspect of its curriculum designed by experienced teaching professionals. This program caters to children who will be pre-kindergarten through 5th grade.
Campers are divided into age groups to take part in a variety of age-appropriate projects, including art, science and outdoor activities where they learn, grow and collaborate with their peers.
Each session at Camp Galileo has a theme, blending art, science, the outdoors and social activities into a thrilling weeklong camp experience. The 2018 camp themes are:
- The Incredible Human Body: The Art and Science of Being Human
- Space Explorers: Cosmic Art and Astronaut Science
- Road Trip Adventure: Art and Engineering on Route 66
- Galileo Makers: Materials Challenge: Extraordinary Art and Inventions with Ordinary Supplies
Each session embraces its theme and weaves it throughout its unique curriculum, which means that campers can attend multiple sessions at Camp Galileo, enjoying a new and exciting experience with each theme. Even a camper who attends multiple weeks of the same theme can expect equal fun and increased understanding, as their camp counselors work to create a memorable and individualized experience for each camper.
Our Bay Area summer camps are available in San Francisco, Marin, East Bay, Silicon Valley & the Peninsula. Check out our 2018 Camp Galileo locations here.

Campers entering 5th grade may opt to sign up for either Camp Galileo or Galileo Summer Quest (or both!), depending on their personal preferences.

What is the Summer Camps @ the Tech Program?
Galileo’s Summer Camps @ The Tech is designed for children who are entering 4th grade through 8th grade, with half-day and full-day camp programs.
Galileo has partnered with The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, CA since 2003, to bring you a program that offers multiple classes ranging across the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and design. It’s a must for any kid who has a hunger for knowledge—and with half-day classes, campers can choose to pursue two different classes during their week @ The Tech. During that week, they’ll also enjoy full access to the museum and its world-class exhibits.
Why Are Galileo Camps Different?
It's our dynamic and supportive staff, our expertly-crafted curriculum and our focus on intellectual growth in a fun, nurturing environment that has made Galileo one of the best summer camps in SF, Marin, East Bay, Silicon Valley and beyond. We also offer camp experiences in the Chicago area and in Southern California.
Summer camps can help instill a sense of independence in your child, while simultaneously helping campers develop confidence and skills that prepare them for their future. If you're ready to make this coming summer a memorable, fun and educational one for your child, register for one (or several) of Galileo's camp sessions. We accept new campers up until 3 pm local time on the Friday before the session begins. Many sessions fill up months in advance, however, so it's wise to register early so your child doesn't miss out on a truly incredible summer camp experience.
