Big ideas happen at Galileo headquarters. Now so does camp.
This summer, experience a whole new kind of camp, located in the nerve (and idea) center of our innovative organization: Galileo HQ.
Galileo Idea Lab is a limited-availability, part-day camp hosted right here at our Oakland, CA, headquarters. Over the course of four weeks, kids from four different age groups will get a sneak peek at our 2018 curriculum, trying their hands Galileo's latest innovations alongside our endlessly creative curriculum development team.
Full of the fun and learning that happens at all of our camps—songs, games, a range of engaging projects to build and take home—Galileo Idea Lab is also a rare opportunity for campers to get behind the scenes at our bustling home base, be the first to tackle exciting new projects and help shape the future of our camps.

The Camp Experience
The Galileo Idea Lab camp day runs from 9 am – 12 noon, a carefully crafted mix of engaging curriculum and fun games and songs, plus a snack break. Campers will work on a range of projects (art and science for pre-K – 5th graders, a new version of mod building in Minecraft, seeing their creations through from start to finish and taking them home on Friday. The week wraps up with a celebratory closing ceremony led by our Galileo leaders in Oakland.
With instruction from Galileo's inspiring curriculum development team (the creative force behind all of our imagination-sparking activities), Galileo Idea Lab campers will be the first to experience the projects our team is cooking up for 2018. Here's just a sampling of what's in store:
NEBULAS: Pre-K – Kindergarteners (August 7 – 11)
Campers will engineer medical must-haves like otoscopes and stretchers and harness the strength of sturdy shapes to build rideable scooters. They'll create imaginative paper piñatas and practice sculpting techniques to craft boxes modeled after the human brain.
STARS: 1st – 2nd graders (July 24 – 28)
Campers will build air pressure-powered, moon rock-grabbing robotic astronauts and construct guardrails strong enough to keep a slingshotted car safe on the road. They'll design layered, spinning space mobiles and use unusual materials to craft bright birds.
SUPERNOVAS: 3rd – 5th graders (July 31 – August 4)
Campers will engineer animals for a robot petting zoo with moving parts powered by their own hydraulic systems. They'll draw inspiration from New Mexico's Central Avenue and Art Deco design to create neon signs complete with custom colors and lettering.
