Los Angeles fun for kids this weekend: Samba, space, beaches, parades, and more

Take your movement-loving kids for a different kind of outing this weekend and check out tonight's Samba JAM in Los Angeles. The event is a celebration of movement, dance, and culture, and is designed for all ages. Comfortable clothing and shoes are strongly recommended. The jam kicks up its heels at 6:30, and is admission-free for all participants.

Stargazers, future astronauts, and fans of all things cosmic can get one step closer to the stars this weekend at the California Science Center. Explore the museum - including the Space Shuttle Endeavor - and then catch an IMAX screening of Journey to Space. The museum is open all weekend long, and is an annual hotspot for folks with a passion for science, space, and innovation.

Calling all naturalists, marine biologists, and beach-goers! Sieze the opportunity to beautify your community by participating in the Toes Beach Clean-Up in Playa del Rey this Saturday, 11/21. Not only will cleaning the beach make it a better place for marine and terrestrial life alike - it will also make you feel great about a job well done. The clean-up officially runs from 10:00 - 12:00, but the folks in charge remind us that any day can be a beach clean-up day.

Every Sunday is Family Art Sunday in Los Feliz's Banrsdall Park. On 11/22, swing by between 10:00 - 12:00 for free, materials-provided drop-in art workshops. These projects focus on a different world culture every week, so there's always something new to learn, do, and craft.

It's that time of year again - this Sunday will see all sorts of fantasical floats rolling down the streets at the Pasadena Doo-Dah Parade. Starting at 11:00, this admission free parody parade will unveil dozens of eccentric, kid-friendly satirical displays. This much-loved community tradition is not to be missed. For more details, visit the parade website.
