Blog: Bright Ideas

A message from our SoCal VP, Sarah

Dear Families,

My name is Sarah McDonald. I’m Galileo’s Vice President of Southern California Operations and a SoCal native. I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be innovating in six new communities this summer, including our very first San Diego location in Carlsbad. I have been dreaming of introducing this inspiring camp culture and powerful growth experience to kids back home since I joined the Galileo family ten years ago. Over the past decade, I have seen increased confidence, collaborative skill building, bold ideas and rampant joy in the campers that attend Galileo. I've spent my career working to bring it home and we're finally here!

Last summer, my own daughter Luca was finally old enough to attend Camp Galileo in LA and Orange County. She filled me in on how she had practiced “being determined and collaborative” at camp—followed up with a full performance of camp songs. Her mind and her heart lit up from just a few weeks of innovating with her peers. I can’t wait to hear what she says on the walk home this summer and to see how the experience continues to shape her.

I’d like to personally invite you to join us at camp this summer. Whether you’re a returning family or coming for the first time, I can promise that your campers will have a ton of fun and that they’ll leave with a stronger belief that it’s their job to turn ideas into reality. Help us spread the word about our eight new locations, and join us at any of our 21 SoCal camps.
