Los Angeles fun for kids this weekend: Sharks, art, biology, and giving thanks

The fun-sized shark lovers in your life are sure to love Shark Lagoon Night at Long Beach's Aquarium of the Pacific. This Friday, 11/6, from 6:00 - 9:00, kids and their families are welcomed to this free-of-charge event. Participants will have the chance to get hands-on with their favorite marine predators as they touch bamboo sharks, and will get to see sharks as big as sandtigers. Please note that only the Shark Lagoon, and not the aquarium at large, are open for this free-of-charge event.

Flex your Maker muscle at one of this weekend's Barnes & Noble Mini Maker Faires! All weekend long, every B&N location will be running  its very own mini Maker Faires in partnership with Make Magazine. If Make Workspaces, tech-educational expos, hands-on activities, product demos for 3D printers, drones, robots, coding, programming, and Maker talks with local Makers will be on hand to discuss their work get your engines running, then this is the space for you. Future wildlife biologists - and their families and friends - can head to Paramount Ranch Agoura Hills this Saturday, 11/7 to participate in a National Parks service project gerared towards re-introducing the endangered California red-legged tree frog. Reservations are required for this admission-free activity, geared towards children aged 5-12. The event starts at 10:00, and participants should plan to get wet, and probably a little muddy. 

The El Segundo Museum of Art is hosting a family day this Sunday, 11/8, from 10:00 - 4:00. This admission-free, touch-themed studio art experience is great for the tactile learners in your life, and will feature an art detectives scavenger hunt and provided making materials for artists of all ages - although you're welcome to bring your own materials as well. Create and converse with guest artist Sara Chao, and learn about her innovative installations.

There's a lot to be gateful for, and this Sunday's free admission day at the California African American Museum is here to help celebrate those feelings of gratitude. Explore the museum on a free gallery tour, and don't forget to catch an all-ages gospel show while you're at it. Admission is free on Sunday 11/8, 1:30 - 4:00.
