Bay Area Fun for Kids this weekend: Penguins, Bugs, and a Boom!

Penguins + Pajamas! As of post time, there are still tickets available for the highly popular sleepover party at California Academy of Sciences tonight! At Penguins + Pajamas, kids and adults get to explore the exhibit after the crowds have gone home, see live animal demonstrations, get a private planetarium show, and then end the evening by enjoying milk and cookies while listening to a story before heading off to sleep. When the lights go out, roll out your sleeping bag next to the swaying kelp of the California Coast tank, or even at the Swamp window, face-to-face with Claude, the albino alligator. Snacks, breakfast, parking and next day admission are all included in the price of $109/nonmembers, $89/members.

The Tech members get appreciated! This Saturday is Member Appreciation Day at The Tech. Complimentary IMAX voucher for the first 25 members! The day includes special discounts, including half off a 3D printing workshop, and access to a special members only lounge.

Newspaper bugs! Make your own newspaper bugs this Saturday for America Recycles Day! Get creative with newspaper and upcycle it into amazing wall art at the Presidio Officers Club in San Francisco. The drop in event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free. Registration is encouraged, but not required.

KA-BOOM! Part of the Bay Bridge is scheduled to be demolished this Saturday after a one week delay. The demolition is expected to happen at about 6:55 a.m. and Caltrans officials are encouraging people to watch the underwater implosion from home via YouTube. More on what will happen and why can be found on a Caltrans video. Don't blink - the whole thing should take only six seconds!
